The Outpatient Department (OPD) is designed to efficiently manage patient appointments and prescriptions, ensuring a smooth and organized process for both patients and healthcare providers. With streamlined appointment management, patients can easily schedule, reschedule, or cancel their consultations, while doctors can effectively manage their availability. The prescription management system allows doctors to issue, store, and update prescriptions digitally, offering a seamless connection with pharmacies and patient records. Appointment management 

The Appointment Management module is designed to streamline the process of scheduling department-specific appointments for outpatient visits. Each patient is allocated to a designated doctor’s room and assigned a unique serial number. Within this setup, doctors review their assigned patients and generate digital prescriptions through the system. This module includes key functionalities essential for managing appointments:  

Appointment

  • Scan the patient's ID card or ticket to retrieve patient information.
  • Schedule appointments department-wise.
  • Assign appointments based on room availability.
  • Schedule doctor-specific appointments.
  • Generate & print appointment slips with assigned serial number & room details.
  • Create Doctors Duty Roster, Changes to duty roster, Block Appointments.
  • Appointment Scheduling, Rescheduling, Cancellation,
  • Wait Lists, Walk-in appointments.
  • View all patients’ previous visitations to the hospital.
  • View Available Appointments, Booked Appointments, Visited patients list, No-show patients list.
  • Give appointment time, date and location.
  • Get an instant Confirm, Rebook or Cancel – via a single click from the patient.

Display Patient Queue

  • The system will show the patient queue along with the appointment serial numbers.
  • Serial numbers will be visible on the display screen. 

Prescription Management 

This module is designed to manage doctor prescriptions on a room-by-room basis. Upon examination of a patient, the doctor will generate an electronic prescription. Key functionalities of this module include: 

  • The doctor can log into their assigned room and access the appointment list.
  • Doctors can review the patient’s medical history and relevant reports during the prescription process.
  • Various types of prescriptions are required, differing by department. For example:
  1. General Prescription (Applies to all departments) 
  2. Specialized Dental Prescription (Exclusive to the Dental Department) 
  3. Specialized Eye Prescription (Exclusive to the Eye Department) 
  4. Specialized Therapy Prescription (Exclusive to the Therapy Department) 

Prescription data should be integrated with relevant departments, including Patient Admission, OPD Billing, Laboratory/Pathology, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Electronic Health Record (EHR). The prescription module will provide the following standard functionalities: 

  • Chief Complaint Entry/View
  • Chronic Diseases Entry/View
  • Allergy Entry/View
  • Vital Sign Entry/View
  • Past History Entry & View
  • Provisional/Final Diagnosis entry

  • A doctor can refer the patient to another department.
  • Also, can refer the patient to another hospital.
  • Continue Medicine/Previous Investigation Information
  • Admission requests generate facility.
  • Prescription prints facility:
  1. Doctors can save templates for future use. 
  2. There should be a department-specific favorites option for easier access. 
  3. Shortcut to the EHR will be available in the Prescription section. 
  4. The doctor’s panel will allow viewing of pathological and radiological reports, as well as radiological images.
